About

Hello there! I’m Lynne and I do the dishes! I live in beautiful Quebec, Canada with my better half and our three wonderful children. I am passionate about cooking, baking, photography, knitting, reading, writing, anything and everything creative, but not necessarily in that order.

When I was younger, my parents owned a restaurant for a short while and although I didn’t realize it at the time, that experience spurred my curiosity for food, people and places. I would wash dishes, work in the kitchen and prep the food, but what I looked forward to most everyday was waiting tables. Interacting with the flow of customers fascinated me. Whether they were regulars - returning for my mom’s scrumptious pies, my dad’s great coffee and the latest gossip - or a family of tourists passing through on their way to another destination, I was captivated by their stories.

Before I called myself a full-time mom of three, I used to be a graphic designer. I like to think my background in design helps me tremendously with blogging and photography, but I certainly don’t consider myself an expert. Learning new things everyday is one of the perks of getting old, and seeing as time flies by so quickly, I might as well take advantage of it now.

Photography details:

When I started this blog, I used a Canon Powershot S3IS. In April of 2009, I got the best early birthday gift ever, a Canon 50D, which I love, but, I will admit, I do miss the Powershot's macro function. A macro lens for the 50D is surely in my future, but in the meantime, I do my best with the 17-85mm lens that came with the camera and a 50mm f1.8.

Unless otherwise noted, all the photos on this blog are taken by me, and I work pretty hard at making everything look as good as possible. I would very much appreciate anyone wanting to use my work to contact me and ask first.

i am making veggie pate today; don't have tamari, so i used soy sauce, and don't have sunflower seeds, so i may just put a few sliced olives on top.... your directions say 8" x 11 1/2" loaf pan, but i assume the 8 is really a 3??? at least that's about the size of my loaf pan... i also used a turnip in place of one of the potatoes... hope it's good!
