This is going to be another short and sweet Tuesdays with Dorie post as the only word that comes to mind when I think of that Cherry Rhubarb Cobbler is "uninspiring".
I was quite disappointed as I love cherries, I love rhubarb but the two together just didn't do it for me. Even Martin who usually loves fruit desserts like this just said it was good but ordinary.
I had really high hopes because as I said, I love all the ingredients separately and everything came together really easily. Plus it's a really beautiful dessert, the fruit filling turns a gorgeous red, and I had sprinkled some coarse sugar on top of the dumplings so they were really shiny and crunchy.
But once I scooped out a piece it was a whole different story. I found the filling was too soupy, the dough was bland and the fruit didn't complement each other at all, in my opinion. I'm not being negative or anything, but I couldn't just tell you guys this was a fabulous dessert and you should all try it right away. I'm not saying you shouldn't either though as I'm sure others in the group really liked it or tweaked it to their liking.

Yeah, I imagined that the cherry and rhubarb combo wouldn't be to everyones liking. Your does look rather pretty, though.

Mine was kind of soupy too, but since I don't like that kind of cooked fruit I only really tried the biscuit which was pretty good.
Oh, what a tragedy that you didn't like it. Especially since it looked so beautiful! Thanks for being honest. Your pics are so gorgeous, you could have just played along and no one would have been the wiser. Hopefully next week is a better deal for you.

The filling does seem a little on the wet side. I added chocolate to my cobbler so I think that helped the crust.
I am surprised you had so much liquid. Maybe I just had dried out fruit! Though the taste didn't wow you, your photos wowed me!

Sorry you didn't like the cobbler, your picture looks lovely though! I wasn't that keen either I'm afraid. I used nectarines instead of rhubarb.

It's always amazing to me when recipes turn out differently for various people...mine turned out very great but yours did not...maybe another go at it? Or not, if you don't like the combo...maybe another combo? It is also amazing how wonderfully your photos turned out...wow. Thanks for sharing.
I love the picture of the pastry cutter. I'm sorry you didn't end up liking the cobbler as much as you thought you would. Hopefully next week will be better.
You're much calmer about so-so results than I am. When I make something that looks like it should be great and is just... meh, I get annoyed out of all proportion. It is pretty, though.
I was underwhelmed by this one too, although yours came out better than mine did. Mine was a gloppy mess!

Bummer you didn't like it! But I admit I wasn't a fan either. I love the course sugar on top though. Gives it a great texture.

Just had to comment on how pretty your pictures are. That first one of the pastry blender is really, really great! Sorry you didn't like the cobbler. While I thought this one was okay, I preferred the mixed berry one.
