TWD - Chipster-Topped Brownies

I wanted to love these, I really did. I was so excited to see that Beth of Supplicious had chosen the Chipster-Topped Brownies as this week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe. I mean, a brownie topped with a chocolate chip cookie dough... Where does Dorie come up with these ideas?!

But in the end, I was underwhelmed. The brownie, which contains soooo much chocolate, was just meh, and the cookie crust sort of detached from the brownie, so it was like eating a chocolate chip cookie on top of a brownie, literally. Maybe I just had too high expectations for this recipe, I haven't had any feedback yet as Martin took the rest of the brownie to work today. We'll see what his taste-testers have to say. Check out Beth's blog for the recipe and the Tuesdays with Dorie website to see how the other bakers fared this week!

Oh! Just reading the description I thought this would be a definite crowd-pleaser, but your judgment is quite interesting. I hope the office-people liked them (oh, who are we kidding, spending all that time cooped up, they are thankful for any sweet treat that comes their way, hehe). It does look very fudgey and delicious though!

It looks fabulous.

Mine didn't bake very well....sigh.

They look great! I really liked these, the dryness of the brownie layer seems to have disappeared over night :)

I felt the same way, except mine just blended into one chocolaty mass ... and was burned to boot. Bleah. It's too bad because I really wanted to like these.

je ne recommencerais pas cette recette, surtout que dorie a de meilleurs brownies que ça...et avec une cuisson impeccable !
c'est néanmoins réussi Lyb :)

Yessss! T'as réussi! Cool! ...et pas mal bien en plus de ça! J'ai vu tellement de TWD qui n'ont malheureusement pas réussi... ça fait beaucoup de chocolat et de beurre à gaspiller quand même!

Bravo LyB! Très beau!

Well, your picture looks delicious even if they seemed a little underwhelming. Glad you made them anyway!

Sorry it didn't meet your expectations but your brownie looks terrific! I'm sure your feedback will be all positive! =)

I really appreciate your honest feedback. There is nothing worse than having too high expectations and wasting time and money when people rave about a recipe that is just plain uninteresting. Thanks for being honest!

I'll bet it was a big hit at work. Every lunch needs a cookie/ brownie combo.
Great photo!

It's too bad you were not in love with the brownie after all that work.

My brownies were dry, which was a bummer, but the cookie did stay attached. I will give these one more try and make sure to under bake them.

Well, they looked perfect! Sorry they weren't your cup of tea - I'm sure they were appreciated! Mine were underbaked - rather gooey, but still good. Nicely done for a "meh" recipe!

Ditto here. But they were sweet and chocolatey.

they look just fine to me.

They look so yummy though!

Check out a post of Bakerella's, where you drop heaping tablespoons of chocolate chip cookie dough into a pan of unbaked brownies, and then bake them.
She frosted hers, I felt no need to. I am now the most popular mom in my son's class! The kids love me almost as much as they love my brownies!

I appreciate that you give unvarnished opinions of the recipes. I certainly don't want to waste the time, effort, and chocolate on making something you think is only so-so.
